Playing with Wayne Newton

Did you hear that Ronstadt Generations will be sharing a stage with Wayne Newton? Ronstadt Generations will be playing the AZ Best Fest in Downtown Prescott, AZ on September 18. This is the first of three events to celebrate 100 years of Arizona being a state (two more events will follow in early 2012 in Tucson and Phoenix). You can find more details on this three day event (9/16 - 9/18) please visit http://az100years.org.

It's been awhile

It seems every time I update this blog I'm saying it's been far too long. Currently we're on the road in California and have a few dates left starting with tomorrow night in Los Angeles at Westwood Music and the next night in Venice, CA. Please visit http://ronstadtgenerations.com/schedule for full show details. Hopefully we'll see you at one of the shows coming up.

Tour

Our tour is now over. Josh flies home in the morning, and my Dad and I fly back to Tucson on Tuesday. It has been a great several weeks starting in Southern Arizona and ending up on the East Coast. We'd like to thank everyone who came to see us play, everyone who gave us a place to stay, all of you who fed us a meal and helped us along the way. We got to meet up with many great friends and make plenty of new ones. All of you in Souther Arizona, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, DC, Virginia, and South Carolina, thank you so much. You made everywhere feel like home.

The one low point of the tour was that Mikey's car snapped a timing belt while we were on the I-76 driving out of Philly. Lucky for the rest of us that this was at the very end of the tour. But unfortunately for Mikey this is his only way of getting around. If anyone cares to help him out you can go buy his brand new solo CD, "Bridging The Gap", at http://www.michaelronstadt.com/products.html

We did archive most of the shows on this tour. They're available for purchase as a 2-Disc CD set at http://www.ronstadtgenerations.com/live

Thanks again to everyone who made this trip possible. We'll see you all again very soon.

Studio Journal Day ?????

So I think I fell off the wagon as far as keeping this journal fresh. Our time in Tucson is coming to a close and we have successfully put a good amount of material on tape (unfortunately not literal tape). We are all about to head to Philadelphia and various other spots on the east coast for about a month (please visit http://ronstadtgenerations.com for a full schedule). Afterwards my dad and I will fly home to Tucson and continue to work on this record. Hopefully it will be coming to you in the next several months. As soon as we get a couple of tracks mixed we'll get them up online for you all to take a listen.

Studio Journal Day 2 & 3

The second day in the studio was highly productive. We successfully (I think) were able to get basic tracks down for 6 tunes (I believe) including:

California Blues (Jimmy Rogers)
Call My Name (Josh Hisle)
Prelude To A Highlife (Michael G Ronstadt)
Pretty Things (Petie Ronstadt)
Stay Home (Josh Hisle)
The Mill Of Heaven (Joe Glazer)

Sam Eagon (of LandMark Sound Recorders) and grilled some incredible carne asada and vegetables which successfully put us all into a food coma and concluded our day.

Day 3:

Day three was a short day due to the fact we had to set up for a gig in the morning and then had to go play that gig in the evening. But we despite the shortness we were able to get a few basic tracks on tape including. Take My Words (Michael G Ronstadt) and Mad World (Tears For Fears). The we all scurried off to get dinner (Michael G ran off to a rehearsal) and play our gig at Canyon's Crown, which subsequently was a great time. A special thanks to Bobby Ronstadt and Michael Markowitz for sitting in.

Studio Journal Day 1

So everybody is here in Tucson and we ventured into the studio today to start on the next record. We got a little bit of a late start but got some good sounds and started to track a few tunes. Included was Thunder and Sadness (an original by Michael J Ronstadt), John Law Burned Down The Liquor Sto' (by Chris Thomas King), and Sixteen Tons (Merl Travis). We'll be headed back in here tomorrow morning to continue where we left off. But for now its time for some food. Pictures and videos shall be posted soon.
